You are to prepare a PowerPoint presentation on your chosen music style.  You must work individually in your research and presentation. You also need to identify the support you will need and ask for it when you need it.

Sources of Information

The internet can be used to research your chosen style but you must beware of plagiarism by rewriting your research using your own words. You should also make a clear reference to where you got the information from.

What is plagiarism? Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work or ideas as your own, by using it in your work without stating where you got the information from (University of Oxford, 2016).

How do I reference my work to avoid plagiarism? Look at the above definition of plagiarism and notice how I have made reference to where I got the information from and also the year that it was written ‘(University of Oxford, 2016)’. I rewrote the information in my own words, and made reference to the source of the information.

Evidence

Evidence will be in the form of a PowerPoint presentation that describes the development of one style of music. As well as writing about the genre/sub-genres, your presentation will show the development of the style and sub-styles through recordings – these recordings should be either embedded in the presentation, in a folder clearly labelled or provided as internet links, e.g. YouTube videos. You should also use images to illustrate music venues, geographic locations, bands/artists, and fashion/style examples.
